About Green Technology Park (GTP)

Green Technology Park (GTP) Pekan was conceptualised therefore, and put forward by Nextgreen Global Berhad (formerly known BHS Industries Berhad) as a pioneering new industry model, aimed at leading the world towards achieving a higher level of environmental consciousness. At the core of the project is the idea to revolutionise the printing and publishing industry by providing a new source of eco-friendly and sustainable pulp and paper, while providing Malaysia with security with regards to paper supply source control.

National paper and paperboard production in 2014 totalled 1,943 thousand tonnes while consumption was 3.177 million tonnes which has resulted in Malaysia being a net importer of pulp paper and paperboard, and thus losing billions of ringgit a year due to importation costs. The solution is to use a Malaysian-owned, patented technology to effectively utilise Empty Fruit Bunches (“EFB”) waste, which is an abundantly available raw material source currently being produced by the local Palm Oil Industry.
