Bleached Mechanised Pulp (PRC-RBMP)

PRC-RBMP is a major technology breakthrough in the pulp and paper industry. The GTP utilizes exclusively owned patented PRC-RBMP technology to take full advantage of Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB) – an abundantly available raw material source produced by the local palm oil industry. It is a ‘hybrid’ of chemical, mechanical and thermal processes that can preserve the condition of EFB fiber for paper production.

A comparison between FRIM’s & GTP’s technology

One of the early steps initiated by the government was to appoint the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (“FRIM”) to undertake research and development on the suitability of oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFBs) as the raw material of pulping. Research performed by FRIM resulted in fibre diameter and fibre length of 27.0 µm and 0.82 mm respectively.

With PRC-RBMP Technology, it focuses on preserving the condition of EFB fibre and reduce the overall time and cost of producing EFB pulp and paper. The results showed a significant improvement on the EFB fibre.
